This last month Apple released an update to their current iPhoto and Aperture2 software. This Update (2.3) to Support RAW files from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, and Sony’s latest systems and fix existing problems to current models has been met with some criticism. Minor Color Correction and loose pixel lines have been reported after processing on specific Nikon models most commonly the D90, but have shown resolve after firmware updates and a little bit of coaxing. Resizing / pixel distortion issues that have been a problem in the past have also seen there day.

As always Aperture and iPhoto will remain a standard for Prosumer and Photo Archivist due to its versatility to multiple RAW formats and the ability to tag and sort photos through multiple sources. Apple continues to be on the forefront of the digital photography market with their leaps and bounds in graphic and portable hardware, but will be always be the second choice for the professional software as long as they stray from speed and reliability for specialized interests and tethered applications.
